Established in 1884, Expression Australia is a national not-for-profit organisation providing services for Deaf and hard of hearing people. Our services range from Auslan interpreting, audiology, community support, Deaf Awareness training, and many more. Expression Australia is committed to breaking down barriers to communication and promoting full inclusion across all aspects of life.
History of Deaf Festival
Previously known as the Christmas Rally, Deaf Festival is an annual flagship event for the Victorian Deaf and Hard of hearing community since 1932.
The festival is a wonderful opportunity to get together and celebrate the year. It’s also a vibrant celebration of Deaf culture, Auslan, and Deaf identity.
It’s also an inclusive, family-friendly day welcoming Deaf and hard of hearing people, their families, friends, and the wider community.
From long-standing community members to newcomers and allies, the Festival offers a space for connection, celebration, and cultural pride.
